What goes into a good DPR
- Manpower by trade and contractor, so labour bills can be checked against attendance later.
- Work done with quantities against the BOQ item or activity, not just "slab work in progress".
- Material received with the challan number, so the store and the supplier's bill agree.
- Machine hours, worked and idle, because idle hired plant is money lost.
- Issues and delays with an owner, so they are followed up and do not just sit in the report.
- Photos of the day's work, dated, which settle most arguments with the client later.
Paper DPRs get lost. WhatsApp DPRs get buried.
In Mezura OS the site engineer fills the DPR on the phone in a few minutes: weather, crew, contractors on site, work done and photos. Every site's report lands in one list for the office the same evening, filtered by project and date, next to attendance, progress against the programme and open snags. No register to collect, no group chat to scroll.
Questions
What is a DPR in construction?
A daily progress report (DPR) is the site’s record of one working day: weather, manpower by trade, work done against the plan, material received, machines used, issues and delays, and the plan for the next day. It is usually written by the site engineer and sent to the project manager and the client.
What should a daily progress report include?
Project and date, weather, manpower by trade and contractor, work done with quantities, material received, plant and equipment hours, issues, delays and safety observations, the plan for tomorrow, photos, and the signatures of the site engineer and project manager.
Who prepares the DPR on a construction site?
The site engineer or site supervisor prepares it at the end of each day. The project manager reviews it, and it is often shared with the client or the client’s consultant.
